Evangelical
Congregational
We are part of a denomination that has it’s roots in the ministry of John Wesley (early Methodism) – which was driven by evangelism, grounded in discipleship, and centered on the Word of God. While we agree to a common doctrine, “congregational” refers to the level of autonomy each church has to govern and function independently.
Why “Manbecks”?
Our ministry in the village of Rock, started in 1831 at the home of John Manbeck, in response to spiritual revivals held in Orwigsburg. Traveling minister John Seibert included this gathering in his preaching circuit across Schuylkill County. And Daniel Boone’s cousin even wrote about how “lively” his visit was to our church. We still ring the bell every Sunday before the start of our service.
TEN CORE BELIEFS
FIVE CORE VALUES
Here’s a list of the main theological doctrines that define our community AND five values we hold for how we do ministry.
Contemporary
Issues
We take a fairly conservative view on most issues, seeking to uphold Biblical standards. Our goal is to love all people, and to call all to live according to God’s principals – being transformed by grace to give up sinful behaviors.
